Plasmons in Supported Size-Selected Silver Nanoclusters: Supporting Information
نویسندگان
چکیده
The investigation of size dependent effects of supported clusters with integral methods like optical spectroscopy demands a low surface coverage so that agglomeration can be excluded. In addition the plasmon resonance depends strongly on interparticle interactions if the distance between neighboring particles is too small1,2. The threshold value for our experimental setup was determined experimentally to be ~1x1013 cluster/cm2, as can be seen in figure S1. For all measured cluster sizes the coverage was held below ~3x1012 cluster/cm2 so that the observed shift of the plasmon energy can be assigned to intrinsic size effects explicitly.

Plasmons in supported size-selected silver nanoclusters.
The plasmonic behavior of size-selected supported silver clusters is studied by surface second harmonic generation spectroscopy for the first time. A blue shift of ∼0.2 eV in the plasmon resonance is observed with decreasing cluster size from Ag55 to Ag9. In addition to the general blue shift, a nonscalable size-dependence is also observed in plasmonic behavior of Ag nanoclusters, which is attr...

Metal nanoclusters exhibit unusual optical and catalytic properties due to their unique electronic structures. Here, surfactant-free silver nanoclusters supported on carbon nanodots were synthesized through a facile and green approach with only glucose and AgNO3 as precursors and without any other protecting ligands and reducing agents. The hybrid nanoclusters exhibited enhanced blue fluorescen...

DNA-templated silver nanoclusters are promising biological fluorescence probes due to their useful fluorescence properties, including tunability of emission wavelength through DNA template sequence variations. Ag K-edge EXAFS analysis of DNA-templated silver nanoclusters has been used to obtain insight into silver nanocluster bonding, size, and structural correlations to fluorescence. The resul...
متن کاملExcitation of propagating surface plasmons by a periodic nanoparticle array - Trade-off between particle-induced near-field excitation and damping
The excitation of propagating surface plasmons SPs on a silver-silica interface by an array of ellipsoidal silver nanoparticles is investigated using numerical simulations as a function of particle volume for three different nanoparticle aspect ratios with representative resonance frequencies. We find that while the SP amplitude depends sensitively on particle volume for each selected aspect ra...
متن کاملSize-selected monodisperse nanoclusters on supported graphene: bonding, isomerism, and mobility.
Soft-landing of size-selected Pd(n) (n ≤ 20) nanoclusters on a Moiré-patterned surface of graphene adsorbed on Ru(0001) leads to controlled formation of a truly monodisperse cluster-assembled material. Combined scanning tunneling microscopy and first-principles calculations allow identification of selective adsorption sites, characterization of size-dependent cluster isomers, and exploration of...
